Conservation Assessment Program Costs
Conservation assessment costs include the conservator(s) professional fee(s), travel, and on-site expenses (including lodging and meals).
The cost of a conservation assessment varies based on the number of assessors, their professional fees, the distance they must travel to the site, and the cost of lodging, meals, and other on-site expenses. Assessment costs are generally estimated to be $4,010 for one assessor and $7,860 for two assessors.
CAP allocation amounts range from $3,390 to $7,190 and depend on the number of assessors assigned to a museum and the institution's budget. Museum costs generally range from $500 to $1,000.
Consult the schedule below to determine your allocation amount and estimated costs. Please note that the museum expense amounts presented are based on estimates; some costs will be more, some less. If assessment costs exceed the allocation amounts below, the museum is responsible for paying the difference.
