Conservation Assessment Program
Costs
Conservation assessment costs include the assessor professional fee(s), travel, and on-site expenses (including lodging and meals).
The cost of a conservation assessment varies based on the number of assessors, their professional fees, the distance they must travel to the site, and the cost of lodging, meals, and other assessment related expenses. Assessment costs are generally estimated to be $4,010 for one assessor and $7,860 for two assessors.
CAP allocation amounts range from $3,390 to $7,190 and depend on the number of assessors assigned to a museum and the institution's budget. Museum costs generally range from $400 to $1,000.
Consult the schedule below to determine your allocation amount and estimated costs. Please note that the museum expense amounts presented are based on estimates; some costs will be more, some less. If assessment costs exceed the allocation amounts below, the museum is responsible for paying the difference.
| Museum Budget | Allocation (1 Assessor) |
