Four Institutions Receive National Preservation AwardHeritage Preservation and AIC recognize outstanding commitments to collections care and conservation The second annual Award for Outstanding Commitment to the Preservation and Care of Collections was given to four institutions in 2000: Fairmount Park Art Association, Philadelphia; Bata Shoe Museum, Toronto; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and Alden B. Dow Home and Studio, Midland, Michigan. Because the 15 nominees truly demonstrate outstanding commitments to different types of collections with different levels of resources available to them, the Awards Committee felt it unjust to recognize only one. The award was created to recognize organizations that have been exemplary in the priority given to conservation and the commitment shown to the preservation of cultural property. The American Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works and Heritage Preservation boards supported the committees recommendation that multiple awards be allowed each year as warranted to achieve broader recognition.
