SAVE AMERICA’S TREASURES APPLICATION AND GUIDELINES AVAILABLE FOR FY 2001 GRANTS

The National Park Service, Department of the Interior, has announced guidelines and the deadline for the Save America’s Treasures Fiscal Year 2001 Historic Preservation Fund Grants. Grants are available for preservation and/or conservation work on nationally significant intellectual and cultural artifacts and nationally significant historic structures and sites.

All applications must be postmarked by April 11, 2001. All grants require a dollar-for-dollar non-Federal match. The minimum grant request for collections projects is $50,000 Federal share; the minimum grant request for historic property projects is $250,000 Federal share.

The guidelines give top priority to establishing national significance for a collection or historic property, calling this a "threshold criterion" for applicants. A list of the awards made through this program in 2000 is at the end (pp. 5-12) of the guidelines document.

The application form can be viewed and downloaded here but is not in "fill-in" format.

Heritage Preservation members may request that the form (a Microsoft Word document) be sent to them electronically by e-mailing rhouse@heritagepreservation.org. Non-members may request the form from the agencies listed below.
