2009 Prize Guidelines

Gaylord LogoHeritage Preservation has teamed with Gaylord Brothers to offer exciting incentives for participating in MayDay 2009. Cultural heritage institutions that submitted (by May 22, 2009) a description of the “one thing” the organization did for MayDay were entered in a random prize drawing. Winners were drawn on May 26, 2009, by firefighters from Heritage Preservation’s local District of Columbia fire station, Engine 16.

 

PRIZE DESCRIPTIONS

Grand Prize Image

Grand Prize: Emergency Collection Protection Kit
Sealed in a six-gallon bucket, this kit is stocked with enough supplies for a two-person team to protect collections in a flood-related emergency. Among the essential items: sponges, triage tags, waterproof tarp, plastic sheeting, tape, light sticks, waterproof document pouch, and much more help your institution be disaster-ready.

First Prize Image

First Prize: Universal Water or Petroleum Spill Kit
With 10 absorbent pads and 2 spill pillows, this kit will help quickly contain and absorb damaging leaks from water pipes or heating oil tanks.

Second Prize Image

Second Prize: Two 4-in-1 Emergency Flashlights
An indispensible addition to any emergency kit, the flashlight also contains an FM radio, emergency alarm, and cell phone charger. No need for batteries, just turn the crank for power.

Third Prize: Two Leak Alert Water Detectors
Catch leaks before they spread! The Leak Alert Water Detector will sound a 95dB alarm for 72 hours as soon as it comes in contact with water. The detectors are fully automatic, just place on the floor near your valuable collections.
