In September 2007, Rescue Public Murals assessed Homage to Seurat: La Grande Jatte in Harlem. This is the only remaining New York City mural by the late Eva Cockcroft, an artist that was instrumental in the national community murals movement. A restoration plan was proposed by conservator Harriet Irgang of Rustin Levenson Art Conservation Associates, New York, and muralist Janet Braun-Reinitz. Thanks to the support of Friends of Heritage Preservation, the mural was restored in fall 2009. Read more....
