Free Ruedas While They Last!

Thanks to the generosity of project funders – the National Endowment for the Humanities, St. Paul Companies, Inc. Foundation, and the American Express Company – we continue to distribute free copies of the Spanish-language Emergency Response & Salvage Wheel to nonprofits. In recent weeks, Spanish Wheels have been distributed in the U.S. and Puerto Rico at workshops sponsored by the California Preservation Task Force, SOLINET, the Photographic Materials Group of the American Institute for Conservation, and the Texas Association of Museums.

While supplies last, any nonprofit or government agency can request two free copies of the Rueda de salvamento y respuesta ante emergencias per institution. It is also available for purchase at the same modest price as the English-language Wheel.

The economy may be sluggish, but sales of the English-language Emergency Response and Salvage Wheel remain steady. Nearly 27,000 copies have been sold in the last six years, and our base of happy customers continues to expand. Many institutions buy multiple copies to place in all facilities and storage areas. Among the latest to follow this trend: the Portland Area Library System, Historical Society of Pennsylvania, and the City of Seattle.

Sayonara, Mold!
The Tokyo Restoration and Conservation Center and Japan’s cultural affairs agency plan to produce a Japanese-language Wheel. Members of the Japan Society for the Conservation of Cultural Property will oversee the translation and editing.
