Heritage Preservation Receives Grants

Heritage Preservation has recently received grants for general support from the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation and from a donor who asked to remain anonymous. Another grant, for conservation of Civil War sculpture, has been received from The L.J. Skaggs and Mary C. Skaggs Foundation.

Thank you to these generous and supportive donors!

Two Californians Join Heritage Preservation Board

Dr. Maribelle Leavitt of San Francisco and Dr. Victoria Steele of Los Angeles have been appointed to the Heritage Preservation board by Chairperson Dennis Fiori. The elected members of the board ratified the appointments at their March meeting.

Maribelle Leavitt is former chair of the California Historical Society and is active in civic and cultural affairs in San Francisco.

Vicki Steele is Head of the Department of Special Collections at UCLA’s Young Research Library. She is returning to the board after having served previously 1998-2002.

“Maribelle and Vicki will be great assets to the board,” said Heritage Preservation President Lawrence L. Reger. “We are delighted to expand our representation from the West Coast and from libraries and historical societies. More importantly, both Maribelle and Vicki have already demonstrated both their commitment to caring for our nation’s heritage, and a savvy sense of how to get things done.”
