On the Road Promoting the Heritage Health Index

In August, Nadina Gardner, Assistant Director for Libraries and Archives, will be chairing a session on preservation needs assessments at the Society of American Archivists annual meeting in Los Angeles. The presentations will describe preservation assessments at all levels, including the national Heritage Health Index, the statewide California Historical Records Statewide Planning Project, and institutional assessments carried out by the Library of Congress. The session will also feature the premier of a video on conducting preservation needs assessments that was produced by the Northeast Document Conservation Center, Amigos, and Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). In September, Kristen Laise, Director of the Heritage Health Index, will represent the Heritage Health Index at a booth at the annual meeting in Providence of the American Association for State and Local History.

A one-page flyer describing the Heritage Health Index and the benefits of participating in the survey has been provided for many professional meetings and workshops. Please contact Rashan Clark at rclark@heritagepreservation.org if you would like copies of the flyer to distribute at your event.
