The Task Force Report, in Verse!

When it started with Bonnie, Charley, and Gaston,
Water was surging and winds were a blastin,’
We were all ready with handy advice
On salvaging photos and books in a trice.
Then just when we thought it was safe on the scene,
We heard from Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne.
Our tips reached the press and Web sites in each state;
Emergency managers said, “This is great!”
“We’ll tell everyone with a damp, soggy treasure:
‘Just freeze it today; then air-dry it at leisure.’”

Now, next year you’ll find that you have a good reason
To feel extra smart in the hurricane season.
Storms got you battered and flattened and blue?
We’ll have a new resource all ready for you.
Give kudos to FEMA, and thank NEA.
You’ll find federal funding for your rainy day.
We’re revamping this book; a true reinvention –
Not just dough for after, but also prevention.

And then you should know: the Wheel’s still in demand.
There’s even a new one produced in Japan.
They’re all ‘round the world; we’re not at all clannish.
And please don’t forget – we’ve got one in Spanish!

The Task Force has grown up; we’ll be 10 years old.
So take our advice and just do as you’re told.
We’ll give you a prize and declare you quite stellar,
If you’ll promise to move your best stuff from the cellar.
