National Magazine Features Reger Article on Collections Needs

An article by Heritage Preservation President Lawrence L. Reger appeared in the “First Person” column of Worth magazine’s August 2006 issue.

The magazine, which is geared toward wealthy individuals and their advisers, features stories on investing, financial management, connoisseurship, and philanthropy. The “First Person” section spotlights readers’ interests and expertise. Reger’s piece, “Outwitting Time: America’s cultural institutions—and their donors—must focus more on preserving the country’s priceless collections” shared his 30 years of experience working with the preservation field and cited Heritage Health Index statistics on the current state of our nation’s collections.

The article underscores that U.S. collections are capital assets appreciating in value and how Heritage Preservation programs, like SOS! and the Heritage Emergency National Task Force, help protect them. Reger concludes by encouraging donors “to learn more about preservation needs and think about supporting solutions to pressing problems.”

According to its Web site, “Worth has a total circulation that exceeds 100,000, including 25,000 asset managers, financial advisors and registered investment advisors. Worth is also distributed via corporate fleets, five-star hotels (such as the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons) and corporate waiting rooms, including law firms, private country clubs, doctors’ offices and luxury automotive dealers.”
