851 Institutions Will Receive IMLS Connecting to Collections Bookshelf— Chance to Apply Ends April 30

Don’t miss out on your last chance to apply for the IMLS Connecting to Collections Bookshelf, the free resource from IMLS. The contents of the bookshelf were selected by a blue ribbon panel of conservation experts; it includes an essential set of books, online resources, and a user's guide that can profoundly impact the ability of small libraries and museums to care for their collections.

The application is online at www.aaslh.org/Bookshelf. There are 12 simple questions, and only four require a brief paragraph to answer. The application will only be open until April 30.

If you have any questions or comments about the Bookshelf or the application process, contact Terry Jackson at 615-320-3203 or jackson@aaslh.org.

In the first period, over 850 applicants were awarded the Bookshelf—from aquariums to historic sites to museums to libraries to archives and zoos—representing every state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. To see the list of recipients, go to www.imls.gov/news/2008/021908_list.shtm.

Recipients from the second application period will be announced in July.
