2001 Conservation Project Support Grants AnnouncedThe federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has announced the 73 recipients of the 2001 Conservation Project Support grants. The grants totaled $2,226,817 with recipients matching the awards with an additional $4,692,106. IMLS received 169 applications for a wide range of critical conservation projects, including treatment, training, research, and surveys. Museums nationwide, large and small, of all types from art to zoo, were funded. For more information, click here. Among the recipients were 18 CAPped museums. CAP, another IMLS grant program, funds a general conservation assessment by a professional conservator to helps museums identify conservation needs and priorities. A Conservation Project Support grant is one of the next steps a CAPped museum can take to begin improving collections care at their institution. Conservation Project Support grants are awarded through competitive peer review and require, at least, a one-to-one match by the recipient. The next deadline for Conservation Project Support grant applications is October 15, 2001. To learn how to apply, click on www.imls.gov/grants/museum/mus_cps.asp or telephone IMLS at 202-606-8540. |
