Acrobat (Montyne, 1968)
This life-size sculpture depicts an acrobat balancing upside down, his left fingers holding him up atop two balls placed one on the other, which in turn are resting on a throne-like chair. The acrobat's feet are extended at a 90 degree angle and his toes pointed outward in a formation of pure grace and control. The sculpture, made from fiberglass and concrete, stands in front of the Circus Circus hotel and casino. It is believed that the acrobat is a self-portrait of the artist himself.
