723 outdoor sculptures were documented and photographed in the Grand Canyon State. Condition assessments show that almost half of the outdoor sculptures in Arizona need treatment. Native American organizations were consulted in the SOS! surveys in Arizona's Native American communities and reservations, which make up more than 26 percent of the state's land and represent 21 different tribes. The name Arizona comes from the Indian word "Arizonac," meaning "little spring."
