Here is a sculpture that people do not get to see upclose. For 130 years, this sculpture of Armed Freedom sat at the top of the dome of the U.S. Capitol. Thats where all the scaffolding is in this picture. When Armed Freedom was being restored, it was taken down by helicopter and people got a chance to look at it from a new perspective.

- What types of details do you notice on close inspection of this sculpture?
- Are there any symbols that identify this as freedom?
- This sculpture is 19 feet and 6 inches high. When it is on the ground, how much taller is it than you are?
Armed Freedom has since been placed back on the dome. Imagine that you are looking at it from the ground.
- Do you think you can tell what the sculpture is?
- Can you see any of the details that you saw when the sculpture was also on the ground?
- Does the sculpture look as big as it did when it was on the ground or does it look tiny?
