A hero is admired for his or her achievements and noble qualities. Heroes have qualities such as strength, bravery, resourcefulness, courage, and morals. Many sculptures remind us about heroes who have shaped our history and done great things.

Which of the people in these sculptures do you recognize? Why are they famous? What does the sculpture tell you about the person or group of people represented? Click on the sculptures for more information about them.

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. They can be historical (like George Washington, Susan B. Anthony, or Martin Luther King, Jr.), people you know (your parent or neighbor who has done something special), a fictional character (Hercules or Wonder Woman), or a profession (like firefighters, doctors, teachers, or rodeo clowns).

Do you have a hero?
