Sara Gonzales, Conservation Assessment Program Coordinator

Sara Gonzales joins the staff as the Conservation Assessment Program Coordinator. A graduate of the Museum Studies program at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, she has spent her career working at museums that are perfect candidates for the Conservation Assessment Program – and most of them have been through the program! Sara has been the collections manager or curator for a number of small museums in the suburbs of Chicago, including the Downers Grove Museum, the Raupp Memorial Museum and the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society. Her responsibilities include reviewing all incoming CAP applications; assisting museums in hiring assessors and completing the program; and public outreach about CAP and Heritage Preservation at museum conferences and meetings.

Cindy Thompson joins the staff as Program Assistant for the Emergency and Collections Care Programs. Cindy has a BS in Architecture from the University of Maryland, College Park and a MA in Historic Preservation from George Washington University in Washington, DC. Before coming to Heritage Preservation she interned with the Maryland State Archive's Commission on Artistic Property and the General Services Administration's Center for Historic Buildings. Her responsibilities include providing administrative support for Task Force projects; coordinating marketing activities for publications and resources; providing research support for funding proposals; maintaining communications with members of the Task Force and Heritage Preservation's affiliated organizations; and organizing and maintaining program files.
